The return of the Americana king
When this fine specimen of classic Chevrolet trucks landed in our garage, we set out on a noble mission to improve its reliability and comfort, while never losing sight of the Chevy’s vintage, recognizable aesthetic.
Just as an overland ride, excellence doesn’t take shortcuts. We began with a complete degreasing, ensuring that all contaminants and old materials are thoroughly removed. Afterwards, the frame underwent a hot-dip galvanization process—a highly advanced technique that involves submerging the frame in molten zinc. This method creates a corrosion-resistant barrier that prevents rust and deterioration, making the frame significantly more durable and capable of withstanding the toughest conditions.
And because a classic car restoration is a game of details, what truly sets us apart is the final touch: powder coating. We applied a high-quality satin black powder coating to the frame. The satin black finish provides a sleek appearance while ensuring that the frame is resistant to chipping, fading, and wear. This combination of hot-dip galvanization and powder coating gives the 1989 Chevy K1500’s frame an unparalleled level of protection that is built to last for years.
Since exceptional overland trips should never be cut short, we installed a new, extended-range 34-gallon fuel tank, allowing for longer adventures without the need for frequent refueling.
A true-blue
As soon as you open the car doors, you immediately feel like you’ve stepped into an elevated experience. The meticulous interior restoration process began with a full disassembly of the seats, door cards, carpeting, and headliner, allowing us to inspect and address every detail. We went as far as restoring seat foams and base frames. It’s not just about looking great; it’s about feeling great.
It’s also about never settling for the ordinary and fulfilling the client’s unique vision. So, in order to recreate a classic yet unique aesthetic, we designed a custom reupholstery in denim blue that we applied to the bench seats, the custom headliner, and the sun visors. We also repaired and reupholstered the armrest padding, ensuring both functionality and style. The new instrument cluster surround gives the dashboard a pristine finish, while the steering column and lock, also repaired, ensure smooth operation.
The door cards were also restored and reupholstered, and a new custom carpet and OEM floor mats were installed. The result? A one-of-a-kind and cohesive visual, where customization meets original charm.
